Smokin' Sugaree - AUD - Dec 16, 1978 — Full Stop!!! —Definitely, add this one to "the list". Much better slide-playing by Bobby here. And, damn good sound on this AUD. For comparison, his slide-playing on the Dec 28, 1979 Sugaree played at Oakland Auditorium Arena with Brent is way over the top, but the band puts a helluva charge into the first break, so I've always put up with the slide-playing on that one (second break). I have never listened to any Sugarees from DPs, so I don't know these. I only went to shows in 1973. Sugaree was always played the same way then. It's a lovely tune with incredible lyrics. I listen to it everyday. MayorMarionBarry's fav is gd77-05-05. Arb's is probably a JGB. gd77-05-28 Bertha > Good Lovin' > Sugaree is impressive - listen to Chris Chappell's MTX. '77 might be GDs best year for performing Sugaree. It could be that gd79-12-28 in Oakland is the hardest driving Sugaree of the......

5/20/04 an awsome Sugaree. I remember being right up front and completely sober at the Country Club. This was the 4th night in a 4 night southland run (Beverly Theater, Irvine, Santa Barbara, Reseda). During the first three nights a large group was chanting "Sugaree" before the Hunter and Garcia sets. I remember it was real jamming. It's good to see someone (billydlions) saying this was the "best" Sugaree ever from a historical perspective of 25 years later and Arbuthnot for posting the link to......
